Whilst this document applies to all applications of ionizing radiations, I wish to point out that the ethical principles of medical radiation protection of patients already falls within the well established framework of medical ethics.The Hippocratic Oath and its evolutionary ethical deriviatives provide the necessary ethical principles for patient care and they have done so for some considerable time. Medical ethics is a well established and mature field and much of the material presented in the ICRP document already exists for medical practices. It is perhaps timely that the overall field of radiation protection is now following this well worn path.
